Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Print Gallery?
The Print Gallery is a curated online art gallery. We represent some of the world's most talented established and emerging photographers from around the world. Offering you access to limited edition exhibition quality fine art prints of their work.
Who is behind the Print Gallery?
The Print Gallery was founded by a team of two, father and son, both with a serious passion for photography. A passion strong enough to create a platform to showcase the true artists of our time.
Where is your artwork printed and framed?
Everything is printed and framed to order here in Sydney, Australia using sustainably sourced materials.
What level of quality can I expect?
The Print Gallery employs state of the art printing and framing techniques using only the best archival materials available. Our frames are exhibition quality, each made by hand specifically for your print. No rainforests are harmed in the process, the way it should be.
What is a limited edition?
A limited edition print indicates that the photographer and the Print Gallery have agreed on a fixed number of prints per size. Once all limited edition prints of a certain image are sold out, no more prints of that size are produced. These are desirable for collectors as supply is limited and they become few and rare, enhancing their value and appreciation.
Whose photographs are these?
We represent artists from all over the world, each with their own unique style. For more information about our contributing artists please head over to our artists page.
Are the prints signed by the photographer?
The photographer does not sign the print itself. Instead, each print comes with a signed certificate of authenticity as well as being embossed with a seal authenticating the print.
How do you guarantee print authenticity?
All prints will arrive with a certificate of authenticity that details everything from the edition number to the stock it’s printed on. This certificate protects the security and genuineness of your limited edition print.
What is the difference between ‘Latest Release’ and ‘Collections’?
Prints are added to the site in releases, once a print is available on the site it is categorised and available for sale until sold out.
Is there more available than what is on the website?
We are always busy curating the next release, but unfortunately you’ll have to keep on checking the site to find out when the next release drops. If you’d like us to notify you, please subscribe to our mailing list.
Do you offer trade pricing?
We sure do, if you’re an industry professional we’d love to see how we can work together. For all trade enquiries please email us: email@example.com
Where can I see a print in person?
We are currently hunting down gallery locations where we can setup exhibition spaces. Until then, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to see if we can organise for you to view our work in person.
Do I need to frame my print?
We provide you with the option of framing your print or ordering just the print by itself. Your print deserves to be protected and we offer the best protection available with current technology. In the event that you wish to purchase an unframed print, we will spray it with a coating of UV protection, whilst this will aid in preventing any discolouration it won’t be as protected as it would be in a frame behind UV filtering acrylic.
What makes your frames so special?
All of the materials in our frames are archival to prevent any acidity that may cause discolouration or fade over time. This includes the wood of the frame itself, the acid-free foam core backing and spacers, the conservation mat board, the fixtures and the all-natural glue used to mount your art.
We also use museum-standard acrylic to protect your art from UV light and other natural elements. Without UV protection, your print would discolour. The frames are put together with a wooden backing that holds them solidly, so your art is protected inside a solid home, safe and sound, happily ever after.
Why acrylic and not glass?
With recent advances in technology, acrylic is now able to be produced that outperforms glass for display purposes such as these. It cuts out almost triple the amount of UV light that glass does with 80% being kept off your artwork, glass only cuts out 30%. This prolongs the life of your investment considerably.
Acrylic is also much lighter than glass, making it easier to hang and it doesn’t crack as easily making it safer if something untoward was to happen to it.
When will I receive my order?
After you place your order, we’ll immediately place your artwork in the print queue. Depending on how busy we are, this can take between 3 - 7 business days. If you are then getting your print framed, that will add another 8 - 13 business days.
In short, unframed prints take roughly 1 week to dispatch, framed prints take 2 - 4 weeks.
How will I receive my order?
Your order will be shipped via our courier. Delivery of your artwork will usually be made between 8am and 5pm. If you are not home our courier will not leave your artwork unattended at your address. A redelivery will be attempted at a later date. We recommend nominating your work address if you work during these hours and have the means to be able to transport the artwork to it’s final destination.
Can I change my mind?
All artwork is printed to order, so please choose carefully. We do not offer refunds or credits if you simply change your mind or make the wrong decision. For more on our refund and returns policy, please view our terms and conditions.
What if I don’t like the print after I receive it?
As above, we don’t offer refunds or credits if you change your mind or feel you’ve made the wrong decision.
Why do some images look grainy?
Please note that some items are printed from negatives. These, in their very nature, are not as crisp and clean as images captured digitally. Each of these prints has it’s own unique marks and imperfections, these are part of the character of the image and carried through onto the print. Rest assured that all prints are as the artist intended.
What if my order is damaged upon receiving it?
All orders are pre-checked and are dispatched in pristine condition. We guarantee that your order will arrive as it left our headquarters, if it doesn't, we've got you covered.
If any goods arrive damaged, please contact us as soon as possible within 48 hours of receipt of the order. Please include images of the damage in order for us to mitigate our losses via our insurers, once we have this we can process your request.
When approved under our ‘Safe Delivery Guarantee’, we will arrange to have the damaged item returned to us and a replacement will be sent out to you as soon as possible.
Should a replacement not be available, you will be entitled to a refund on the item. Damaged goods will be arranged for their due return and replacement at the expense of The Print Gallery and in all cases we must insist that goods are returned in same condition as received by you with all original packaging.
Please supply images of the damage in order for us to mitigate our losses via our insurers. The Print Gallery under no circumstance takes any liability for artwork damaged once received. We are not responsible for unsafe hanging practices. Please note all artwork weights and hang accordingly. We take no responsibility for any damage to persons or other goods.
Do framed prints come ready to hang?
Yes, our framed prints come with d-rings and hanging cord ready to hang straight on your wall. If you have special requirements, please contact us prior to placing an order at email@example.com
How do I hang my print?
We suggest anchoring your artwork at two points on the wall using good quality hooks. Head down to your local hardware store for more advice on the best types of hooks to use for your wall type. Please also be sure to refer to the weight of each piece when hanging.
Can I use 3M hooks to hang my print?
We recommend not using 3M hooks to hang our artwork. These hooks are known to not stick very well to a number of surfaces and can be heat affected. The last thing we want is for your investment to be damaged, falling from the wall. If you don’t have any pre-existing hooks where you’d like to hang your artwork, consult your local hardware store or we can assist in finding a local contractor to come to you.
Will my print fade over time?
If the art is cared for once it is in your hands, for example, keeping it out of direct sunlight, it will last for many generations.
How do I know which edition I have?
Your print will come with a certificate of authenticity, on it, you will find which edition you have.
How do I know if my print is genuine?
All pieces we sell come with an embossed certificate of authenticity signed by the artist to verify that they are the genuine article.
Do you use sustainably sourced materials?
We sure do. Here at the Print Gallery, we care about the environment and use sustainably sourced materials every chance we get. All the way from where we source the timber for our frames to the paper we use to print our certificates, we’re leaving the smallest mark on our environment as possible.
If I choose to not frame my print can I get you to frame it later?
If you choose to order an unframed print and then for some reason you wish for us to frame it later, that is possible. However, you’ll have to get a quote from us on the frame you’d like and you’ll have to cover the freight costs of sending the print back to us and us shipping the framed print back to you.
If you plan to frame the print, it’s usually much easier and more cost effective for you to add it at the time of initial purchase.
How and when do I pay for my order?
We use Braintree as our payment gateway provider and are able to accept Visa, MasterCard and Debit Card. Payments through Braintree are the most secure in the world, they are a validated Level 1 PCI DSS Compliant Service Provider. We also offer PayPal as a payment option if you’d prefer.
How is my order protected when shipped?
All artwork purchased from The Print Gallery is protected whilst in transit to you. Framed artwork will be packed with corner protection and then bubble wrapped and in a custom size box made to house your artwork. Standalone prints are sent in sturdy cylinders with a tissue paper layer before being dispatched.
